About the Artwork

This wiener dog painting catches a red dachshund mid-stride on a summer beach at sunset, one front paw lifted, ears swinging, tail held high behind him. Turquoise waves roll in over the wet sand, and the sky melts from peach to pink to lavender above the horizon.

Bennett Hawthorne built every surface with a palette knife, laying down thick ridges of paint that you can almost feel. The glossy coat is carved out in rust, copper, and deep mahogany, while the sand picks up streaks of butter yellow, apricot, and a violet shadow under the dog. It reads like a dachshund oil painting with the energy turned all the way up.

It's made for anyone who has ever watched their own doxie trot proudly along the shoreline. As wiener dog art goes, this one is cheerful without being cartoonish, and it makes a thoughtful gift for dachshund owners, beach lovers, and anyone collecting dachshund art prints.

As canvas wall art, it brings warm coastal color to a living room, a sunny entryway, or a beach house hallway. It also works as dachshund home decor in a bedroom or as relaxed dachshund bathroom decor beside soft blue and sandy tones.

After years mixing cocktails in Manhattan dive bars, I moved to the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2015. The morning fog rolling over these hills reminded me why I loved painting before life got complicated. Now I spend my days chasing that soft light through the seasons.
