About Bennett

Bennett Hawthorne traded Manhattan dive bars for the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2015. After years of mixing cocktails, the morning fog rolling over the hills around Asheville, North Carolina, reminded the former bartender why painting mattered in the first place. Hawthorne, who holds a BFA from Hunter College, now follows that soft light through every season.

The style is impressionist, and the subjects range far from home. The limestone front of the Alamo glows in San Antonio’s afternoon light. Jazz musicians play on wet cobblestones in New Orleans as a streetcar rolls past, and storefronts shine along Robson Street in Vancouver after the rain.
