About the Artwork

A well-worn western saddle rests on the top rail of an old wooden fence, stirrups hanging loose and latigo straps dangling where the last rider left them. Ellis Whitmore built it up in thick palette knife impasto, so the cracked leather, the fleece lining and the splintered gray boards all catch the light like real texture.

Behind it, a late golden sky breaks into chunky strokes of peach, cream and soft blue, and dry grass leans in from the bottom edge. This piece of rustic western wall decor feels quiet and lived-in, like the end of a long day on the ranch rather than a postcard of one.

It's for anyone who grew up around tack rooms, rides on weekends, or simply loves cowboy wall art that tells a story without a single figure in it. Collectors of western art prints and vintage western painting will feel right at home with its warm, honest palette.

Hang this canvas wall art over a leather sofa, in a study, or as man cave wall art above a bar. It also brings real warmth as cabin wall art in an entry or a lodge-style living room, and pairs easily with other western canvas art and western wall decor in a gallery grouping.

Working with hospice patients for eight years taught me about finding peace in difficult moments. I started painting biblical scenes as a way to process what I witnessed daily. The transition from caring for souls to capturing spiritual light felt natural.
