About the Artwork

A stepping stone path winds through desert blooms toward an adobe home, where purple mountains catch the last light. The artist loads the brush heavy with color. Saguaro cacti stand sentinel, prickly pear shows off orange flowers, and that sky moves from soft peach to brilliant yellow in thick, visible strokes.

This is impressionism applied to the Southwest. Bold blocks of terra cotta for the adobe walls, sharp blue shadows for the mountains, saturated greens and purples for the desert floor. The paint has body to it. You can almost feel the texture of the canvas underneath.
