Ellis Whitmore

Ellis Whitmore began painting biblical scenes as a way to process eight years of hospice work. Caring for patients taught Whitmore to find peace in difficult moments, and turning toward spiritual light felt like a natural next step. Whitmore trained through art league classes and works from Providence, Rhode Island.

The style mixes impressionism with abstract color, and faith is the subject throughout. Christ walks across calm water under a pink and blue sky. A wooden cross stands on a hillside of purple wildflowers at golden hour, and a garden path leads to a small chapel with a blue steeple. Below are Whitmore’s canvases, each printed on matte canvas over solid wood.
