About the Artwork

A loose handful of field daisies spills out of an old sage green enamel milk jug, rust blooming where the paint has chipped from the rim and base. Mateo Callahan laid the petals on thick with a palette knife, so each white bloom sits up off the surface with a dab of mustard at its center.

Behind the jug, golden ochre is broken up by quick streaks of hot pink and cobalt blue, and a few drips run down from the flowers. It's a retro flower painting that feels lived-in rather than polished, with the energy of Callahan's Expressive Color style carrying it.

This is for anyone who keeps wildflowers in whatever jar is handy, likes a little wear on their things, and wants colorful flower wall art that still feels warm. As retro kitchen wall art, it brings farm-stand charm without leaning on cute.

Hang this canvas wall art above a breakfast nook, beside open shelving, or over a coffee bar. It also works as flowers in vase wall art for a dining room or entry where the golden tones can catch afternoon light.

My father's beehives taught me patience and the way light moves through morning fog. After dropping out of art school in 2018, I spent two years just watching how colors shift in the markets of Guadalajara before I felt ready to paint them.
