Hand Painted Floral Canvas of a Tall Hollyhock - Canvas Wall Art

One hollyhock stalk climbs straight up the middle of this hand painted floral canvas, and Dorian Haskell lets it take its time. Wide, saucer-shaped blooms in dusty rose stack along the lower stem, each with a pale green eye, while tight pink buds cluster toward the tip like they're still deciding. Broad lobed leaves fan out at the base in olive and blue-green.

This is a textured floral painting you can read up close. The petals are scraped and pulled with the edge of the tool, the way a palette knife flower painting leaves ridges and soft streaks of cream along each rim. Behind the flower, loose vertical strokes of sky blue, olive and ivory run down the canvas, with thin drips trailing off the leaves. It feels quick and certain, not fussy.

It's for anyone who grew up with hollyhocks along a fence or a garage wall, and for people who want botanical wall art with some motion in it rather than a tidy specimen study. Gardeners, cottage-style decorators and collectors of expressive color work tend to feel at home with this one.

The tall, narrow composition suits a hallway, the space beside a doorway or a slim wall between windows, and it holds its own as large floral canvas wall art over a console or a reading chair. The blue and olive background pairs easily with wood, linen and soft greens, so this canvas wall art settles into a farmhouse kitchen or a bright bedroom without much effort.
