About Dorian

Dorian Haskell grew up attending a church in Bend, where the pastor spotted Haskell sketching during sermons and shared medieval illuminated manuscripts. Haskell has chased that sense of reverence and mystery ever since, now in contemporary abstract forms. Self-taught and a former sign painter, the artist works in Eugene, Oregon.

Impressionism and abstraction meet in heavily textured, devotional pieces: a portrait of Jesus built in burnt orange and crimson, Jesus in prayer beneath a golden halo, a lone cross on windswept hills and small country chapels set among wildflowers.
