About the Artwork

A young red fox kit sits up on its haunches, bushy tail wrapped around its front paws, head turned just slightly to the left as if it heard something in the trees. Caleb Moretti painted the fur in warm orange layers with a soft gray chest and dark socks, and a single sprig of fern rests on the sandy ground beside it.

The background is loose and airy, with pale sky blue and lavender strokes brushed across the canvas in his soft contemporary impressionist style. That gentle haze keeps the focus on the fox's amber eyes and alert ears while giving this fox nursery wall art a calm, dreamy feel.

It's a natural fit for parents building a woodland theme, or anyone who loves nursery animal portraits that feel painted rather than printed from a cartoon. The quiet pose and soft palette make it a thoughtful baby shower gift, too.

Hang this nursery canvas wall art above a crib, changing table, or reading chair. It pairs easily with other pastel nursery wall art, cream bedding, and natural wood furniture, and it will still look right as the room grows into a kid's bedroom.

A rainy Tuesday in 2015 when the library was unusually quiet, I sketched the light coming through the tall windows. That sketch sat on my desk for months before I finally bought paints to finish it properly.
