About the Artwork

Silas Reeve painted this wheat field painting at the moment the evening sun slips under a storm. Ripe golden heads lean toward you in the foreground, each one built from quick, confident strokes, while a deep violet and navy sky churns overhead with breaks of amber and turquoise light. It reads as an impressionist landscape painting with a modern, vibrant edge.

Look closely and the wheat is full of surprises. Small dabs of rose, aqua, and lavender are tucked between the stalks, and one sunlit swell of grain rises right where the eye lands. There are no buildings or people, just open land, weather, and that warm glow before the rain.

This is a pastoral landscape painting for anyone who grew up near open fields, loves a good summer storm, or simply wants a little drama and warmth on the wall. It pairs easily with wood, linen, and leather, and it brings the same calm you feel looking out over farmland at dusk.

As canvas wall art it works well above a sofa as landscape art for living room spaces, along a long hallway, or in a dining room with farmhouse touches. Choose a larger size and it becomes a large landscape canvas that anchors the whole room with gold and violet light.

Teaching diving in Hawaii for three years taught me to see underwater light patterns differently. Now I paint wildlife with those same flowing, translucent qualities I remember from forty feet down.
