About the Artwork

Two tall sea stacks rise out of the shallow surf, dark and heavy against a sky that has gone peach, cream, and mauve. Autumn Carlisle built this coastal canvas art with a palette knife, so every rock face is a patchwork of thick, flat strokes in olive, ochre, and violet, and the clouds look like they were laid on in slabs.

The best part is the beach. The tide has just pulled back, and the wet sand holds the stacks again in long purple reflections, broken by streaks of orange light. Teal waves curl in at the left, white foam ridged with paint. It's seascape wall art you can almost feel with your fingertips.
