“Working with fabrics and textures for fifteen years taught me to see color differently. When I moved back to Prague in 2019, the light hitting the old buildings reminded me why I loved drawing as a kid. Now I spend my mornings in Wenceslas Square sketching before heading to my studio.”

About Liam

Liam Novak lives in Prague, Czech Republic, and starts most mornings with a sketchbook in Wenceslas Square before heading to the studio. The former upholsterer spent fifteen years working with fabrics and textures, which sharpened an eye for color. Novak also completed a figure drawing intensive program.

Abstract edges sharpen an impressionist style set in blues, browns, silvers and beiges. Old European streets and harbors dominate: Dubrovnik’s Pile Gate in honey-colored stone, white boats off Lokrum Island, the onion domes of the Kremlin along the Moskva River and Hamburg’s fish market wrapped in morning fog. The artist’s best-selling canvases are waiting just below.
