About the Artwork

A child stretches out on a big round rug, propped on both elbows over an open book, bare feet kicked up and crossed in the air. Liam Novak paints the moment in thick, dragged strokes of teal, rust, ochre and violet. The same colors run through the hair, the dress and the rings of the rug, so the whole scene feels like one long, happy afternoon.

This reading wall art is part of our Kids Reading Corners collection, painted in Liam's Expressive Color style. Look closely and you'll see paint drips running down from the rug's edge and loose sweeps of cream across the background, the kind of energy that keeps a quiet subject from ever feeling still.

It's for the parents who read aloud every night, the teachers building a cozy classroom shelf, and anyone who remembers losing whole hours on the floor with a good book. As library wall art it brings warmth and color without anything cute or cartoonish.

Hang this canvas wall art above a beanbag or low bookcase as reading corner decor in a kid's room, a playroom or a school library. It also works as reading nook wall art in a hallway alcove or a sunny window seat where someone always ends up with a book.

Fifteen years as an upholsterer, handling fabrics and textures, changed the way I see color. Moving back to Prague in 2019, I noticed the light on the old buildings and remembered how much I loved drawing as a kid. So now my mornings start in Wenceslas Square with a sketchbook. Then the studio.
