About the Artwork

Three slender sprigs drop in from a branch just past the top edge, each one loaded with pink and cream flowers. Ellis Whitmore built every petal with a palette knife, so the blossoms sit up off the surface in thick, ridged strokes, with tiny red centers and dark knotted twigs holding them in place. This cherry blossom wall decor catches that moment when the wind picks up.

Below the sprigs, loose petals drift down through open air, scattered across a ground of cream, sand and soft blue-gray laid in broad, overlapping knife marks.
