About the Artwork

The Reflecting Pool catches every shade of that sunset sky, doubling down on those coral pinks and purples that wash across the monuments. The Washington Monument rises center stage, flanked by the Capitol dome on one side, trees framing the view on both sides. Thick paint strokes give the water real texture, like you can see the ripples moving.

The artist works with a loaded brush here. Colors layer on top of each other, wet into wet in spots, creating those dreamy transitions between sky and water.
