About the Artwork

A bear stands in shallow water, its fur rendered in blues and purples that catch the light like a prism. The reflection doubles everything. Mountains rise in the distance, soft and hazy. Trees frame the scene with their dark trunks and teal canopies, those characteristic drips giving the piece its contemporary edge.

The palette stays cool and collected, leaning into teals, lavenders, and muted greens. There's a dreamy quality to the whole composition, but the bear itself feels solid and present. The water's surface creates natural symmetry without being too precise about it.

Parents looking for nursery wall art that isn't overly sweet tend to appreciate this. It works for older kids too, especially those drawn to nature and wildlife. Veterinarians have picked this up for waiting rooms. Wildlife enthusiasts get it immediately.

The scale fits a kids room or study without overwhelming smaller spaces. Also lands well in a library or baby's room where you want something calming but not boring. The horizontal format works above dressers or changing tables.

Working nights at the shipyard in 2019, I started sketching the stray cats that hung around the docks. Those rough charcoal drawings of weathered toms and shy calicos became my first real paintings when I traded my torch for brushes.
