About the Artwork

Three long, lance-shaped leaves fan upward from a single point, each one laid down in thick slabs of paint with a palette knife. The left leaf is olive and sage, the center one a cool teal, the right a pale cream with hints of wheat. A raised vein runs up the middle of each, and the knife marks sit across the blades like ribs.

Sylvie Aldridge painted the ground in loose, overlapping patches of ivory, peach, blush and a touch of lilac, so the leaves feel like they're rising out of warm plaster.
