About the Artwork

This spaghetti painting puts a heaping bowl right in front of you. A deep cream bowl, a fork twirled into the top, a bright sprig of basil on the side, and tomato sauce dripping over the rim. Ignacio Barrera paints the noodles as loose ribbons of caramel, cream, magenta and electric teal, so the whole pile seems to move.

It's a food still life painting with plenty of energy. Thick palette strokes sweep across a background of turquoise, chocolate brown, mustard and pink, and little drips run down the canvas like the sauce in the bowl. It feels playful and hungry at the same time.

Made for anyone who loves a big Sunday plate of pasta, cooks from family recipes, or wants pasta wall art that skips the usual checkered tablecloth look. It also makes a fun gift for a new homeowner who lives in the kitchen.

Hang this kitchen canvas wall art above a counter or open shelf, or let it bring color to your dining room wall art lineup. It suits Italian kitchen wall art themes and works just as well as restaurant wall art in a trattoria or pizzeria.

I paint in a courtyard studio in Puebla, a short walk from the old market. Mixing dyes in a textile factory taught me how pigment shifts with heat, time and the fabric beneath it. My expressive canvases begin in deep shadow, and I charge them with blue, magenta and orange poured and brushed wet into wet, letting colors bleed before I pull them back.

It looks amazing! The material creates the look of natural texture, even without raised detail.
