About the Artwork

A small log cabin sits half buried in snow, tucked deep in a stand of tall pines. One window glows a warm gold, and a pale curl of woodsmoke winds up from the stone chimney into a slate blue sky. High above, a tiny sleigh and its reindeer cross the stars. This snowy cabin painting by Willa Prescott is a quiet Christmas Eve scene, the kind you want to step into.

Willa built it up with a palette knife in thick impasto strokes. You can see the ridges in the drifts, the heavy cream on the roof, the layered green of every snow-tipped branch. It has the texture and depth of a Christmas oil painting, with blues, golds and pine greens doing the talking.

It's for anyone who loves the hush of a winter night and the small magic of Santa passing overhead. A good pick for cabin lovers, collectors of classic holiday wall art, and families who bring out their favorite pieces every December.

As Christmas canvas wall art, it hangs beautifully over a fireplace, in an entryway, or above a reading chair where the lamp catches that gold window. It pairs easily with the rest of your christmas wall decor and feels right from the first snow through New Year's.

Working at a Vermont dairy farm for three years taught me to really observe animals up close. The way light hit a cow's flank at sunrise, how horses shifted their weight - these small details became everything in my paintings.
