About the Artwork

She has her back to us and her glass up high, and that's all the story you need. Warren Hadley painted this woman perched on a curved blush velvet settee, hair pinned in a low twist, a champagne coupe lifted toward the light. Her gown dips to the small of her back and spills over the cushion in folds of pale gold.

This is palette knife impasto, and you can see every pass of the blade. The dress is built from small, flat strokes that read like sequins catching the room. The sage green wall behind her is laid in broken, angled patches, so the whole piece feels like a party you just walked into. It's retro cocktail art with real texture and a quiet sense of celebration.

It's a natural pick for anyone who loves feminine wall art with a little glamour, or who wants champagne wall art that feels like a toast instead of a label. If you've been looking for a woman on sofa painting that's elegant without being stiff, this one fits.

Hang this canvas wall art above a bar cart or in a dining nook as home bar wall art, or let it set the tone in a lounge with a speakeasy wall art mood. It works as bar wall decor in a finished basement, and as cocktail wall art in a bedroom or dressing area where the blush and gold tones can shine.

I look for scenes with old enamel in them: a vintage truck, a roadside diner, a gas pump. Two decades of hand-lettering storefront signs left me with bold color and a steady hand. In my carriage house in Savannah, I lay those scenes in thick slabs of oil with a palette knife. Cherry red meets turquoise. The ridges carry its shine.
