About the Artwork

Everett Langston pulls you right up beside the sleigh in this oil painting Santa Claus scene. Santa sits tall in a carved wooden sleigh with gold scrollwork, reins in hand and a sack of gifts and fir boughs behind him, while two antlered reindeer stretch forward in red harness. Snow kicks up from the runners in a bright pink-white spray.

The whole piece is built with a palette knife, so the paint sits thick and ridged. The sunset sky is laid down in broad slabs of apricot, gold and rose, the far mountains go lavender, and the snow underfoot breaks into cream, aqua and violet strokes that catch the low light. It has the warmth of old world santa art with a looser, livelier hand.

This is for anyone who loves a Santa with some motion in him, a collector of reindeer canvas wall art, or a family that wants one holiday piece that feels painted rather than printed. As a santa claus art print it also works as a gift for the person who brings out the Christmas decorations first.

Hang this canvas wall art over the sofa as Christmas wall art for living room gatherings, or above a mantel or entry table. The sunset palette carries well past December, so it can stay up as winter wall art through the season alongside your other christmas canvas prints.

Working in wine country taught me how light changes everything. I started sketching vineyard animals during slow afternoons, and those quick studies of horses and farm dogs became my first serious paintings.
