About the Artwork

A little brown bear cub has given in to sleep, curled on its side with its paws tucked under its chin. Behind it, Brady Tolliver painted a low rounded den of layered bands in dusty rose, peach, golden ochre and sage, each with a soft brushed edge. A single leaf stem stands to the left, and a small blue moon hangs in the cream sky above.

This is montessori classroom wall art from our Painted ABC Animals collection, done in Brady's Boho Painted style. The cub's fur is built up in fine, feathery strokes, and the whole scene sits on a muted green ground with plenty of quiet space around it. The palette keeps things calm, which makes it a natural pick as gender neutral nursery art.

It suits teachers setting up a reading corner, parents planning a soft woodland animal nursery art theme, and anyone who likes simple shapes and gentle color. It also pairs easily with other pieces in the series if you're putting together a small grouping of pastel nursery wall art.

Hang this canvas wall art above a crib, beside a book shelf, or at child height in a classroom. It works just as well as playroom wall art or preschool wall art, anywhere little ones wind down after a busy morning.

Oil thinned with linseed is my medium. I work on a screened porch outside Oxford, Mississippi, where the air stays thick nearly all year. Farm work got me used to showing up early and reading the water. The day sets its pace. Leaves and stems lead, with ochre and moss sage drifting across a creamy ground in loose, damp shapes.
