“I paint on a screened back porch just outside Oxford, Mississippi, where the air is thick most of the year. Farm work taught me to show up early, read the water and accept that the day sets its own pace. I let southern ochre and moss sage drift across a creamy ground in loose, damp shapes, as if the humidity had settled into the paint itself.”
