About the Artwork

Zoey Martinez took the humblest thing in the room and gave it a starring role. A toilet paper roll hangs from a polished chrome holder, and its paper has run loose in one long, looping ribbon that curls and twists all the way down the canvas. The paper is painted in creamy beige with streaks of butter yellow, outlined in thin dark lines that give it a crisp pop art edge.

Behind it, a pink sun-like circle frames the roll, and the mint background is broken up by quick, dry-brushed swipes of teal, cobalt blue, pink, yellow and violet. The loose strokes keep the scene lively, like the paper is still moving as you look at it.

This is funny bathroom wall art for people who like a little wink in their home. It suits anyone collecting cute bathroom wall art or bathroom art prints with a retro palette, and it makes an easy gift for a friend who just redid their bath.

Hang this canvas wall art above the toilet or beside the vanity as bathroom wall decor that sparks a smile. It works as small bathroom wall art in a tight space, as powder room wall art for visitors, or as guest bathroom wall art that starts a conversation, and pairs well with other bathroom canvas wall art in the Retro Bathroom collection.

My semester abroad in Rome in 2016 introduced me to classical techniques I'd never seen. After years brewing craft beer, I found myself missing that hands-on creation. The vintage postcards I collected throughout Italy became my first subjects, and I haven't looked back since.
