About Zoey

A 2016 semester abroad in Rome introduced Zoey Martinez to classical techniques. Martinez, who studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti there, had spent years as a brewmaster and missed making things by hand. The vintage postcards collected across Italy became the first subjects. Today the artist works in Brooklyn, New York.

Vintage illustration is the heart of the work, with worn type and old pantry-label charm. Top sellers include a rust-red tomato ketchup label, bold mustard lettering on cream, a raspberry jam design and a vinegar label with lemons on the branch.
