Empty Tomb Painting with Stone Rolled Away - Canvas Wall Art

This empty tomb painting by Bennett Hawthorne shows a rock-cut tomb set into a pale hillside, its arched doorway open and dark, the great round stone rolled to one side. Off to the right, the sun just clears a line of lavender hills, and the sky fades from soft aqua to peach and rose. A few tufts of dry grass catch the first light along the slope.

Bennett built the whole scene with a palette knife, laying sand, tan and slate gray paint in thick, flat slabs so the rock looks cut and stacked. The stone itself is a patchwork of cream and cool gray strokes, and you can see the ridges of paint where the light hits them. It reads as modern religious art while still telling the Easter morning story plainly.

It's a fit for anyone collecting contemporary christian wall art, a meaningful gift for Easter, a baptism or a new pastor, and a quiet reminder for people who want faith wall art that feels like real painting rather than a slogan. Among christian canvas prints, this one leans calm and hopeful.

As canvas wall art, it works well as modern christian wall art for living room spaces with warm neutrals, linen and wood tones. In a bigger size it holds its own as large christian wall art over a sofa or sideboard, and it also suits a study, a hallway or a church office as spiritual wall art and religious wall art with a gentle sunrise glow.
