About the Artwork

This cross canvas painting keeps things very quiet. A thick, warm plaster wall fills the frame, and a narrow cross is cut into it, glowing with soft cream daylight. Paola Medina built the surface with heavy, dragged strokes of greige and stone gray, leaving thin rust edges around the opening like old clay showing through.

Nothing else competes for attention. The lower part of the wall drifts into cooler gray, and the scraped texture catches the eye up close, while from across the room you simply see the cross of light. It reads as modern religious art that trusts restraint over ornament.

It suits anyone who wants faith wall art that feels calm and grown-up rather than busy, and it makes a thoughtful gift for a confirmation, a new home, or a pastor's study. If you have been looking for contemporary christian wall art that pairs with neutral, natural interiors, this one fits right in.

Hang this canvas wall art above a linen sofa as modern christian wall art for living room spaces, in a hallway by the front door, or over a bedroom dresser where morning light can find it. The soft beige and gray palette sits easily beside wood, plaster, and white walls.

My studio is a small room with high ceilings in the Colonia Americana neighborhood of Guadalajara. Teaching yoga for years taught me about breath, balance and the beauty of slowing down. I mix acrylic with fine marble dust for a soft, chalky surface, then paint one arch, a circle or a low horizon in warm sand and bone tones, leaving the rest open and calm.
