About the Artwork

There's movement in this piece, even standing still. A seagull lifts off from calm water, wings spread wide, caught in that split second between surface and sky. The palette stays soft with creamy whites, warm taupes, touches of rust and amber, and that hint of blue-green water below. Loose clouds frame the scene like they're painted with a palette knife.

The brushwork has a nice energy to it. Thick paint in some spots, thinner washes in others. The artist doesn't overwork the details, which keeps the whole thing feeling fresh. You can see the individual strokes in the clouds and water, giving the canvas wall art texture you notice up close.

This connects with anyone who loves Corpus Christi or the Texas coast. Makes a thoughtful gift for someone who grew up near the water or just needs a reminder that the beach exists when they're stuck at their desk.

Hangs well in bedrooms, living rooms, or a home office. The neutral colors play nicely with coastal decor, but the composition is strong enough to hold its own anywhere you need a little breathing room on the wall.

Leading sunset tours through Arizona's desert back in 2015 taught me how colors shift when you're not expecting it. Those late afternoon moments watching tourists discover something beautiful for the first time reminded me why I'd always sketched landscapes as a kid.

Sea-birds or art? why not both?

Fortuitously stumbled upon a bird lover's dream, cunningly disguised as art.
