“Leading sunset tours through Arizona's desert back in 2015 taught me how colors shift when you're not expecting it. Those late afternoon moments watching tourists discover something beautiful for the first time reminded me why I'd always sketched landscapes as a kid.”

About Landon

Landon Wells learned to read color on the job. Back in 2015, the former tour guide led sunset tours through the Arizona desert, watching the light change without warning, and those evenings revived a childhood habit of sketching landscapes. Wells is based in Phoenix, Arizona, and holds a BFA from Ohio State University.

Wells works in a watercolor style with expressionist energy, using beige, blue and brown with crisp black accents. The coast shows up often: Lake Michigan beyond the dunes at Traverse City, golden cliffs at La Jolla and layered waves in Mobile. Inland, hot air balloons lift off at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta.
