Contemporary Still Life Painting of Wildflowers in a Roll - Canvas Wall Art

Elias Montoya took the humblest thing in the house and made it the vase. A single upright toilet paper roll holds a loose, generous handful of white daisies, soft yellow buttercups, lavender cornflowers and rust-orange cosmos, all set on a table draped in cream cloth. It is a contemporary still life painting that plays it completely straight, which is exactly why it makes people grin.

The brushwork is thick and visible, in the spirit of modern Impressionism. The roll and the folded cloth are built from buttery strokes of cream and pale gold, while the teal-green background shimmers with dabs of violet and ochre. The flowers sit on thin, wandering stems, so the bouquet feels picked by hand rather than arranged. As a wildflower bouquet painting it holds its own; the roll is the wink.

This is humorous bathroom art for someone who likes a joke told quietly. It suits a homeowner who wants funny bathroom decor that still looks like real art, or a friend setting up a first place who could use a little color and a laugh.

Hang this canvas wall art as small bathroom wall art beside the mirror, as powder room wall art guests will notice, or as bathroom art over toilet where the subject lands best. It works just as well as half bath wall decor in a soft green or cream room, and it is the kind of toilet paper wall art that keeps getting compliments.
