“My father's construction crew worked on old haciendas around San Antonio when I was a kid. Those crumbling walls and faded colors stuck with me through twenty years of laying tile. Now I chase that same weathered beauty on canvas.”

About Elias

The old haciendas around San Antonio left their mark on Elias Montoya early. The family construction crew worked on them, and those crumbling walls and faded colors stayed with Montoya through twenty years of setting tile. The artist studied abroad in Florence and still lives in San Antonio, Texas, where that worn beauty drives the work.

Montoya’s style sits between impressionism and abstraction, with bold color and sun-worn texture. Mexican coastlines and colonial details inspire the collection: weathered doors in coral and turquoise, the rock arch at Cabo San Lucas, surfboards lined up in Sayulita and a sunset doubled in Cancun’s Nichupté Lagoon. All of Montoya’s canvases appear below, ready to hang.
