About the Artwork

A great blue heron stands perfectly still in a clawfoot tub, neck pulled into a tight S, eyes locked on the bathwater like dinner might swim by any second. Mason Hollis painted it in splash watercolor, with slate gray wings, a lavender neck, and a sharp golden beak set against loose bursts of ochre, wine red, and moss green that drip down the paper.

The feathers get careful, fine line work while everything around them stays wet and free. The cream tub with its brass claw feet sits in a pale wash of shadow, and the water barely ripples around those long legs. It's contemporary bathroom art with a patient, slightly ridiculous sense of humor.

This one is for anyone who likes bird art but wants a little wink in it, or who already loves our Funny Bathroom Animals collection. It makes an easy gift for birders, lake people, and anyone who takes very long baths.

As canvas wall art, it brings warm color to a white or gray bathroom and works as bathroom wall decor above the tub or towel bar. It fits just as well as powder room wall art, a playful piece of modern bathroom wall art, or as bathroom canvas wall art in a guest bath.

After coordinating hundreds of weddings, I craved something quieter and more personal. Animals became my focus in 2013 when I started painting my neighbor's rescue dogs. The loose, expressive brushwork feels like freedom after years of managing timelines and vendor lists.

It looks amazing! The material creates the look of natural texture, even without raised detail.
