About the Artwork

Dante Rivas built this piece out of broken pieces of color. Angular shards of cerulean, turquoise, jungle green, sunlit ochre and coral orange tumble down the canvas, overlapping like fragments scattered from a height. Lavender violet shadows sit in the gaps, and thin drips of dark green run toward the bottom edge.

The paint is laid on thick with a palette knife, so every shard has a raised edge and a visible ridge where the blade lifted. It reads as a textured abstract canvas even from across the room, and up close it becomes a layered abstract painting where you can follow which stroke went down first. The soft pastel washes behind keep the whole thing feeling light.

This colorful abstract wall art is for people who like energy on their walls without a specific scene to explain. If you are drawn to bold color, loose gesture and a bit of controlled chaos, this one will keep giving you something new to look at.

The tall vertical format works well in an entryway, beside a bookcase or as abstract art above couch arrangements paired with a second piece. As abstract canvas wall art it also suits a home office or bedroom that needs a warm lift. Printed as canvas wall art, it brings Dante's palette straight into your space.

My uncle's small gallery in Guadalajara introduced me to Tamayo's work in 2002. After years of crunching numbers during tax season, I started mixing colors instead. Now I split time between abstract landscapes and impressionist street scenes from my neighborhood.

It looks amazing! The material creates the look of natural texture, even without raised detail.
