About the Artwork

Two forces meet in the middle of this piece. From the left, thick horizontal slabs of black paint push in, laid down with a palette knife so each stroke keeps its raised edge. From the right, heavy ivory and pale grey slabs press back, and where they collide the paint buckles into ridged, folded grey.
