About the Artwork

A coastal salt marsh runs flat all the way to the horizon, and one teal tidal creek takes its time getting there, bending in a slow S-curve through the cordgrass. The sun sits low on the right, and its gold light breaks up on the water in thick peach and cream flecks.

Sylvie Aldridge built this one with a palette knife, laying the paint on heavy. You can see every ridge in the sky, the flat sweeps of turquoise in the creek, and the short upward strokes of sage and olive grass with little sparks of rust and yellow tucked in. It's big wall decor with real texture, even as a print.

It's for anyone who loves quiet mornings near the water, or misses a stretch of coast they grew up on. The soft palette of teal, sage, and peach settles a room instead of shouting, which makes it easy large nature wall art to live with every day.

The wide format works as long horizontal wall art over a sofa or sideboard. Hang it as wall art above couch level in the living room, as large dining room wall art across a long table, as large bedroom wall art over the headboard, or as large office wall art behind a desk. Like our other landscape canvas prints, this canvas wall art is ready to bring a little open sky indoors.

After years creating costumes for Boston theater productions, I discovered that mixing pigments felt just like dyeing fabrics. The transition from dressing characters to painting biblical scenes happened gradually, but the storytelling instinct remained the same.
