Christmas Eve Painting of a Hilltop Chapel - Canvas Wall Art

A small white church stands alone on a snowy rise, its tall pointed steeple topped with a cross and its arched windows glowing gold from the inside. Snow blows across a deep blue sky, and the red front door is the only warm spot of color against all that cold. This christmas eve painting feels like the quiet minutes before the late service begins.

Sylvie Aldridge built the whole scene with a palette knife. The church walls are just a few flat cuts of cream and pale blue shadow, the roof is a slab of navy, and the snowy hill sweeps forward in thick, ridged strokes of ivory, sand and blue. Up close you can see every knife mark. Step back and it reads as a clear, calm winter night. It's a christmas church painting with real texture and a lot of air in it.

It's a good pick for anyone who loves a traditional christmas scene painting but wants something looser and more contemporary christmas art in feel. Families who attend a small country church, collectors of holiday wall art, or anyone who keeps a few cozy christmas pictures for wall display each December will find a lot to like here.

Hang this canvas wall art above a mantel, in an entryway, or over a sofa where the blue and cream can settle into the room. Because the palette leans on snow and sky rather than red and green, it also works as winter wall art that can stay up well past the holidays.
