About the Artwork

The iconic Route 66 shield stands front and center, where Chicago's most famous highway begins its journey west through the skyline. Behind it, the city rises in layers of deep blues and warm golds, buildings catching that late afternoon light. The street stretches forward in bold strokes of orange and red, cars moving through the canyon of architecture. There's a vintage travel poster energy here, nostalgic but not dated.

The color palette shifts dramatically from the cool shadows in the foreground to warm yellows soaking the upper reaches of the skyline. That contrast keeps your eye moving. The brushwork has texture, visible strokes that give the canvas wall art depth. The composition pulls you down the road, the way good highway art should.

If you grew up road-tripping or you're raising kids who need to understand why Route 66 matters, this connects. Chicago natives will recognize this immediately. It's a great conversation piece for anyone who loves American road culture or collects city-specific art. The pop art influence makes it approachable for younger spaces too.

This works in a living room as a focal point or in a teen's room where the colors won't clash with typical decor. The vertical format fits well on narrower walls. Also a solid pick for a game room or family room where you want something with personality and movement.

After years perfecting roast profiles, I started painting Chicago's skyline from memory in 2016. The industrial colors and geometric shapes from my old warehouse job keep showing up in everything I make.
