About the Artwork
One long charcoal stroke, pulled low and a little unsteady across the canvas, like a ridge of land seen through fog. Above and below it, Clara Westbrook layered chalk white and warm grey in broad, dry-brushed bands, so the whole field feels like weather moving slowly over a shoreline.
This large black and white abstract wall art piece is about restraint. The dark mark carries all the weight, and the rest is breathing room. You can see the drag of the brush and the faint ridges of paint, which keeps the quiet from feeling flat. It's monochrome abstract wall art with a landscape heartbeat.
It suits people who want something sophisticated abstract wall art can offer without shouting: a calm focal point, a place for the eye to rest at the end of a long day. If you like soft palettes and a single confident gesture, this one is for you.
Hang it over a low sofa as black and white abstract art for living room walls, or use it as black and white wall art for office spaces where you need to think clearly. As canvas wall art it pairs easily with linen, pale wood, and black metal, and it holds its own as black and white canvas wall art in a bedroom or entry.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
I spent twelve years retouching black-and-white portraits in a Portland photo lab, and it taught me that the softest greys carry the most feeling. In 2017 I traded the darkroom for oil paint. Now I paint quiet scenes in fog, ivory and charcoal, with as little contrast as the subject allows.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
