About the Artwork

Some cats just won't forgive the faucet. Elle Montgomery painted this golden tabby perched on the rim of a pink clawfoot tub, eyes narrowed and whiskers bristling, fixing a hard stare on one lavender drop slipping from a chrome tap. Every stripe is laid down in fine, scratchy strokes, so the fur looks soft enough to ruffle.

Behind the cat, loose blocks of aqua, coral red, mustard and cobalt blue are brushed in like a patched-up wall, giving this cat bathroom wall art its contemporary pop art energy. The tub picks up those colors in streaky pinks and creams, and the whole scene feels bright, a little chaotic, and very much on the cat's terms.

It's made for anyone who has ever been judged by their own cat, or who wants their bathroom wall decor to get a laugh. Cat lovers, families with a feline boss at home, and friends who appreciate a good side-eye will all recognize this look.

Hang this bathroom canvas wall art above the tub, beside the vanity, or as a cheerful bit of powder room wall art where guests will catch it. The punchy palette works well as modern bathroom wall art in white, gray or pastel-tiled spaces, and the canvas wall art holds its color nicely in a bright room.

After years performing Shakespeare in regional theaters, I discovered geometric patterns in stage lighting designs. The precision required in theater translated perfectly to my structured abstract work, where each shape serves a specific purpose in the overall composition.
