About the Artwork

This bourbon wall art slows down to look at one good drink. Maren Hollis painted an old fashioned in a heavy cut-crystal tumbler, with one big ice cube, a curl of orange peel hooked over the rim and a dark cherry sitting low in the glass. Light passes straight through the bourbon, turning it amber and gold against the diamond pattern of the crystal.

Everything is built with a palette knife in thick, chunky strokes. The wall behind is a patchwork of cream, sand and pale blue slabs of paint, and the wooden tabletop below is laid down in warm brown blocks that catch the glass's reflection.
