About the Artwork

This bourbon wall art slows down to look at one good drink. Maren Hollis painted an old fashioned in a heavy cut-crystal tumbler, with one big ice cube, a curl of orange peel hooked over the rim and a dark cherry sitting low in the glass. Light passes straight through the bourbon, turning it amber and gold against the diamond pattern of the crystal.

Everything is built with a palette knife in thick, chunky strokes. The wall behind is a patchwork of cream, sand and pale blue slabs of paint, and the wooden tabletop below is laid down in warm brown blocks that catch the glass's reflection. Up close you see ridges and edges of paint, and from across the room it reads as a clear, quiet still life.

It's a natural pick for anyone who enjoys a proper stirred drink, keeps a bottle of rye or bourbon on the shelf, or wants cocktail wall art that feels painted rather than printed. It also makes a thoughtful gift for the person who always makes the drinks at your gatherings.

Hang this canvas wall art above a bar cart or as home bar wall art in a den, or let it warm up a dining room painting wall next to wood furniture. The cream and brown tones sit easily in rustic dining room wall decor and look just as at home in a restaurant or lounge.

Working with patients taught me to see healing in unexpected places. I started painting scripture verses as gifts for my church family in 2019, but the abstract backgrounds began taking over the canvases. Now those color fields tell their own stories.
