About the Artwork

Fiona Callahan built this one in layers. A tall cluster of monstera and banana leaves rises out of sweeping palette knife strokes in deep forest green, and every vein and torn edge is traced in gold leaf that catches the light as you walk past. Below the leaves, the paint runs in long drips of green, rust and plum down a cream background streaked with blush and sand.

It sits right between realism and abstraction. Up close you see the ridges of thick paint and the flaked gold. From across the room it reads as a lush, quiet piece of botanical bathroom wall art with the soft backdrop of a neutral abstract painting.

This is for anyone who wants their bathroom to feel like a day spa, with plants and warmth instead of cold white tile. If you've been looking for gold bathroom wall art that doesn't feel flashy, the gilding here stays thin and natural, like sunlight on wet leaves.

Hang it above a freestanding tub, beside a wooden vanity, or on a wall near a window where the gold can pick up daylight. As spa bathroom wall art, it pairs well with linen towels, stone, and real greenery. The tall format of this canvas wall art also works in a narrow hallway or a calm bedroom corner.

After years staring at screens cutting film footage, I needed something tactile. Started with collages in my Brooklyn apartment in 2016, tearing up old magazines and newspapers. Now I layer paint over found materials, creating symbols that mean something different to everyone who sees them.
