About the Artwork

This black cat and snake plant painting is all about quiet confidence. Todd Ferguson painted the cat sitting tall in profile, coat glossy and dark with warm brown highlights, tail wrapped neatly around its front paws and amber eyes fixed on something just out of frame. Beside it, a snake plant rises from a clay pot, its leaves edged in cream over olive and teal.

The background is pure mid century modern art at its simplest: a cream wall with visible brushstrokes, a flat mustard sun hanging behind the cat's ears, and a deep brown floor laid in with broad, loose strokes. The palette stays warm and grounded, which makes it easy black cat wall art to live with every day.

It's made for cat people, plant people, and anyone who loves mid century modern prints with a bit of personality. If your place already leans toward walnut, rattan, and terracotta, this one will feel like it was always there.

Hang this canvas wall art over a credenza, in a reading nook, or near your own collection of houseplants. It works as earth tone wall art in a living room or bedroom and pairs well with other mid century modern home decor in brown, mustard, and burnt orange.

My studio is a cinderblock shed behind my house in Phoenix, where the light is strong enough to test any colour. I spent fifteen years painting cars at a body shop, which taught me patience with surfaces and a love for the curves of old Chevys and diners. I paint mid-century scenes and abstracts in bold mustard, turquoise and burnt orange, flat shapes with the brush texture left in.
