About the Artwork

This acoustic guitar painting catches the quiet moment before a take. A steel-string guitar leans back on a simple wooden studio stool, its golden spruce top built up in thick, chunky strokes of honey and ochre. Behind it, wedge-shaped acoustic foam panels stack in dark stripes against a wall of broken blues and cream.

Raymond Kincaid painted it with a palette knife, and you can see every pass. The paint sits in ridges and flat planes that catch the light, so the guitar body almost looks carved. The plain pickguard and bare headstock keep the focus on the shape of the instrument and the texture of the paint.

It's a musical instrument painting for players, songwriters, and anyone who has spent late nights in a small room tuning up. As canvas wall art, it makes a thoughtful gift for a guitarist or a fitting piece of music studio decor for someone who records at home.

Hang it above a desk in a home recording studio, near your amp and guitar stands, or as part of your music room decor where the blues and golds can warm up a plain wall. It also works in a den, an office, or a hallway that needs a little soul.

When I pick a scene, I look for forms simple enough to build in a few planes: a saguaro, a canyon, a monsoon sky over the Rincon Mountains. Servicing jet engines gave me respect for tools. So I lay thick slabs of oil with a knife, burnt orange against violet shadow, and scrape the edges clean in one pass.

It looks amazing! The material creates the look of natural texture, even without raised detail.
