“I paint in a cinder-block studio behind my house in Tucson, facing the Rincon Mountains. Years of servicing jet engines taught me respect for tools and for doing a job cleanly in one pass. I build saguaros, canyons and monsoon skies from thick slabs of oil laid with a knife, burnt orange against violet shadow, keeping the edges scraped and the forms simple.”

About Raymond

Raymond Kincaid paints in a cinder-block studio behind his house in Tucson, Arizona, with the Rincon Mountains filling the view. Before he picked up a palette knife, he spent years as an airline maintenance mechanic, holding an A&P certification and servicing jet engines. That work taught him to respect his tools and to finish a job cleanly in one pass, habits he carried into painting classes at Pima Community College and still brings to every canvas.

Working in oil on heavy cotton duck, Raymond lays down thick slabs of paint with wide trowel knives, building saguaros, canyons and monsoon skies in an expressive, painterly style. Burnt orange glows against violet shadow, the edges stay scraped and crisp, and the forms are kept simple and bold. His desert scenes bring warmth and texture to living rooms, entryways, home offices and Southwest-inspired spaces, and they hold their own on a large wall above a sofa or a fireplace. Below are Kincaid’s canvases in our shop, ready to hang.
