About the Artwork

Raymond Kincaid built this old cine camera out of ridges of paint. Two round film magazines sit on top like a pair of ears, the lens juts forward in glossy black, and a little hand crank sticks out the side. Below it, a slender wooden tripod spreads its legs in golden strokes that catch the light.

The background is pure palette knife work: slabs of slate blue, charcoal, rust red and sand laid down in broken patches that seem to swirl around the camera.
