Mikkel Thorsen
“I moved from Denmark to Astoria, Oregon, and paint in a narrow studio overlooking the Columbia River. Working as a harbor master's clerk taught me order and restraint, keeping records clear with only what was needed. My minimalist canvases hold a few pale bands of grey, sand and white, brushed thinly so they feel as quiet and soft as sea fog.”
