“Working night shifts at the hospital for eight years taught me to see beauty in unexpected places. The fluorescent hallways and quiet moments between emergencies became my first subjects. About Malcolm

As a nurse on hospital night shifts for eight years, Malcolm Tate found beauty in unlikely places, from fluorescent hallways to the quiet between emergencies. Those memories of fatigue and hope now become abstract forms that carry weight and lightness together. Tate trained at the Florence Academy of Art and works in Richmond, Virginia.

Abstraction with expressionist energy defines the work. Cities appear in fragments, as streets break into gray and silver planes touched with gold. Elsewhere, teal and sage curves flow like marbled water, and yellow blocks cut through tangled power lines. The most requested Tate pieces in our shop follow, printed on matte canvas and stretched over solid wood.
