About the Artwork

A single wren sits at the very top of one tall dried grass stem, tail cocked up the way wrens always seem to hold it. Paola Medina painted the bird with care: the pale eyebrow stripe, the barred wings in warm brown, the tiny feet gripping the seed head. The stem rises from the bottom edge in one thin, gentle curve.

Everything else is open winter sky, a soft cream and pale gray ground with visible knife and brush texture that reads like plaster on an old wall. It is minimal on purpose. The empty space gives the little bird room to breathe, and the whole piece feels calm and still, like a cold morning before anyone else is up.

This vertical wall art is for bird watchers, people who love quiet nature studies, and anyone who prefers one small, well-painted detail over a busy picture. Among bird canvas prints it stays understated, with neutral tones that sit easily alongside wood, linen and stone.

The tall format makes it a natural fit as tall narrow wall art beside a doorway, in an entry, or as hallway wall art where a slim wall needs something gentle. It also works by a reading chair or in a soft, neutral bedroom. Printed as canvas wall art and ready to hang.

My studio is a small room with high ceilings in the Colonia Americana neighborhood of Guadalajara. Teaching yoga for years taught me about breath, balance and the beauty of slowing down. I mix acrylic with fine marble dust for a soft, chalky surface, then paint one arch, a circle or a low horizon in warm sand and bone tones, leaving the rest open and calm.
