About the Artwork
Matthew Calhoun dragged long, thin streaks of cream, sand and soft gray across a pale sky with a palette knife. Some marks are fine as threads, others broad and buttery, and all of them lean gently upward to the right, like wind you can almost hear. Near the bottom, a quiet flat ground line settles the whole scene.
This piece of textured neutral wall art comes from our Neutral Plaster Abstracts collection, where raised ridges and chalky layers give the surface the look of plaster wall art. Up close you see every lifted edge of paint. From across the room it reads as calm open space, a beige abstract wall art piece that sits between landscape and pure gesture.
It suits people who like a quiet room, the wabi sabi wall art kind of person who prefers soft imperfection over bold color. If your home leans toward japandi wall art, linen, pale wood and stone, this palette knife abstract painting will feel right at home.
Hang it as above bed wall art for a restful bedroom, or choose it as wall art above sofa in a light living room. Sized up, it works as large neutral wall art that fills a long wall without crowding it. Printed as canvas wall art, it keeps the soft, matte feel of the original.

Materials & Craft
Printed and hand-stretched in the USA, then shipped ready to hang.
My studio is an old net loft near the water in Mystic, where the fog rolls in most mornings. Varnishing boat hulls taught me patience with layers and respect for drying time. I build my textured abstracts slowly, troweling sand and fog-colored plaster in thin coats, then brushing faint pale gold into the ridges so the surface warms as the light shifts.
This canvas exceeded my expectations. The lion and its reflection are beautifully captured, and the quality of the print is superb. It adds a strong, motivational vibe to my room. I get compliments on it all the time!
Thrilled with the quality, the colors and the prompt delivery. Very impressed with this beautiful artwork! Just what this space needed! Will definitely do business with this company again! My clients loved it!! Thank you!!
